An Interview with Ginger Snap

An Interview with Ginger Snap

Ah, the crisp air of fall. This time of year, we begin craving all manner of autumnal desserts: apple pie, pumpkin muffins, fruit crumbles. And with Steve & Andy’s organic cookies, gluten-free baking has never been easier. To get us ready for the season, we sat down with one of autumn’s sweetest darlings: our very own gluten-free Ginger Snap Cookie.

I: First of all, thanks for being here. I know you’re in high demand this season.
G: It’s a pleasure to be here.

I: Why don’t you start by telling our audience a little about yourself?
G: Sure thing, cookie. Most people know me for my candied ginger morsels, but I’m also proud to say I’m also 100% organic and gluten-free. I also don’t have any of those nasty GMO’s, corn syrup, peanuts or tree nuts. Not in my box, I say!

I: Sounds like you have strong boundaries.
G: And a snap that won’t stop! But hey, I’m also down to earth. My friends say I’m quite crunchy.

I: Hard to imagine you in hiking boots. Anyway, let’s pivot. Where did your name come from?
G: You mean my nickname, Sassy Molassy? Just kidding, I know what you mean. The word “Ginger” comes from the Sanskrit word srngaveram, which means “horn root.” You know, like the shape of a ginger plant.

I: Very interesting! Although, if I’m not mistaken, ginger isn’t actually a root.
G: You did your research, honeybun! It’s true, ginger is a rhizome, which is fancy plant speak for an underground stem. It’s similar to cardamom in that way.

I: Another Indian plant, correct?
G: That’s right, you smart cookie! Many of my flavors derive from South Asia. I do love to travel…

I: What’s something else about you that might surprise people?
G: Well, I like to think of myself as a cookie with two faces. There’s my sweet, tasty side. The extrovert, if you will. But I also have a calmer self. Among my closest friends, I’m something of a soother. My ginger is a natural remedy, with anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, and antioxidant properties.

I: There are those strong boundaries again.
G: What can I say, I’m a cookie with conviction!

I: Mrs. Snap, thank you so much for sparing a moment of your time. When can we expect to see you next?
G: I’ll be hitting the shelves in early November! You can use this handy site to find me. Ta ta darling. And remember: always treat yourself!
