Halloween Spider Cookies

Halloween Spider Cookies

Spooky, sweet, and oh-so-cute—get ready for creepy crawly fun that’s delicious too!

Level of Difficulty: Easy (even ghosts could handle this!)
Servings: 12 spooky spiders
Prep Time: 10 mins
Cook Time: 5 mins (for melting chocolate)

Ingredients:

  • 1 box of Steve & Andy’s Chocolate Chip Cookies
  • 12 mini peanut butter cups (spiderheads!)
  • 1/2 cup of dark or milk chocolate chips
  • 1 teaspoon of shortening
  • Candy eyes (2 per spider, for a total of 24 creepy eyes)

Instructions:

  1. Get melty: In a microwave-safe bowl, combine the chocolate chips and shortening. Microwave in short 20-second bursts, stirring in between, until melted and smooth (like witch’s brew!).
  2. Create creepy eyes: Using a resealable plastic bag (or piping bag), pour the melted chocolate into one corner and snip a tiny hole. Use the chocolate to stick two candy eyes on each peanut butter cup—voilà, spiderheads are born!
  3. Attach the heads: Place each peanut butter cup, candy eyes facing up, onto the center of each Steve & Andy’s Chocolate Chip Cookie using a dab of the melted chocolate mixture to glue them down.
  4. Spin some legs: Pipe 8 little legs on each cookie, extending from the peanut butter cup to the edge of the cookie, to form the spidery legs.
  5. Chill out: Let your spider cookies rest at room temperature for about 5 minutes, or pop them in the fridge for a quick set.
  6. Scare & share: Once set, these little spider cookies are ready to crawl into your next Halloween party (or your belly)!

Pro Tip: Want to go even spookier? Use red or black licorice for extra legs or pipe fangs with the melted chocolate for an extra frightful effect!
